Story
Peter Franus Napa Valley Red Wine 2014 is a twelve barrel selection as an ode to true elegance. Dark ruby and youthful in color, the nose offers black cherry, dried herb, and ripe plum with a background of sweet oak weaving it all together. The mouth captures our stylistic hallmarks—structure, liveliness, and balance. The wine is integrated and harmonious, finishing with an appropriate amount of grip. It is poised for graceful aging.
Peter Franus’ winemaking philosophy is simple: great wines come from great vineyards. With his 30 plus years experience in Napa Valley, Peter Franus can identify the vineyards that are truly the best of the best in order to source the absolute highest quality fruit and create the highest quality wines. He relies on his own intuition, experience, and takes a minimalist approach to the winemaking process and with this, each of his wines hosts their own unique personality and character. The fruit in this rich Peter Franus Napa Valley Red Wine 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from three vineyard sites from the rugged terrain of Mount Veeder and is spur pruned on vertical trellises.
Napa Valley’s first vines were planted in 1839 and just 50 years later, over 140 wineries were in operation. Fast forward to 1976 with Napa Valley being thrown into the spotlight with the Paris Tasting, where California wines out-performed their French counterparts, shocking winemakers of the world and putting Napa Valley on the map. With its ideal winegrowing temperate climate, mountain ranges, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Napa Valley is now the most sought after California wine.
