Going green: How we’re continuing to push sustainability at Pull The Cork
From gloomy news on CO2 emissions, through to the rise of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the message is getting clearer by the day: if we’re going to ‘save the planet’, then now’s most definitely the time to change our ways, and create more energy-efficient eco-friendly rules without the use of harmful chemicals.
- For keeping waste (and costs) to a minimum, as well as for doing your bit for the planet, going green and cutting fossil fuels is a resolution that all businesses should seriously consider!!
Those that still rely heavily on plastic, or who leave their customers with a mini-mountain of packaging waste with each delivery, are in danger of looking seriously out of touch. Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of their impact on the environment, and more than ever before, they actively choose to buy from companies who act responsibly.
We at Pull The Cork are stamping down on our global warming footprint and are seeking new ways to help improve by starting with eco-friendly packaging.
Becoming more eco-friendly can result in cost savings right across our business. As an example; smarter, more streamlined packaging is generally speaking – cheaper and easier to pack and send, reducing our spend on warehouse labour and shipping, and of course – hopefully reducing the cost to the end consumer (you). Buying locally has been our mission for some-time, but this has proven to be a more expensive and less tactful, so we have now taken this into our own hands.
What sustainability friendly packaging are we using?
Our pledge, where possible, whilst keeping your bottles safe is to reduce our carbon footprint and provide you with an eco-friendly solution the best we can. By reducing waste and product packaging, as well as more efficient transport and infrastructure, we have continued to minimise our environmental impact.
We have been using some environmentally friendly packaging from Italy, but it’s been a year of innovation, and we felt like we needed to have a sustainability differentiator so we have created a packaging line that is totally unique to Pull The Cork. The Packaging has been tested with all of the leading national and international couriers and has been shown to guarantee maximum reliability in the transport of fragile products (glass). So our bottled liquids (wine) – will travel in absolute safety in our new green packaging. Since the packaging is made solely from corrugated cardboard, it is available at a very competitive price with respect to our previous packaging. The boxes that we introduced respects the environment and have a tiny carbon footprint – as they are made entirely from cardboard, they are made from 100% recyclable materials. Another great reason to use it.!!
On top of this all of our cardboard boxes, filling and gift box straw is made from recycled papers and again is fully recyclable. Taking this eco mindedness further we ONLY print our flyers & in parcel marketing from already recycled card stock.
You can also do your bit too and recycle your bottles after use as well – or up-cycle some of the cooler ones into household items from candles to decorative features & lighting.
