Story
Lectores Vini Pomagrana is from Fredi Torres & Marc Lecha who together make up Lectores Vini, a project based in Montsant and Conca de Barberà in Catalonia, Spain. Fredi Torres, a former DJ, has his hands in a bunch of natural wine projects throughout Spain. Fredi is known for finessing elegant wines out of big, bodacious varieties like Carignan and Grenache. This is his Conca de Barberà project, a lesser known DO down in southern Catalonia. Here, the main red player is Trepat, a light grape used make ethereal, pale and herbal reds and rosés. Between the villages of Barberà de la Conca and Cabra del Camp, in the DO at an altitude of 520 meters. The vines were planted in 2005 with a southwest exposition on limestone soils and surrounded by Mediterranean forest. The farming here is guided by organic principles without the use of pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. The grapes were 100% destemmed and macerated for 14 days. Following pressing the juice was returned to inox where it finished fermentation (always on indigenous yeasts). The wine was then racked off its gross lees and stayed in steel for 4 months on its fine lees before bottling with a light SO2 addition.
The Lectores Vini Pomagrana is a fresh and mineral wine. Pert and mineral, with refreshing low alcohol and just barely ripe, lively raspberry, cranberry, and pomegranate fruit. Also, it’s a tiny bit foresty smelling. Aromas of tart raspberry, cranberry, and pomegranate fruit… almost a deep rosé. Serve chilled alongside cheese, charcuterie, fish, and any spicy dishes including Thai or Vietnamese food. This is the ultimate BBQ wine – super juicy, super fruity, and perfectly refreshing!! A great pairing for fish, or serve with an assortment of snacks as your super fun and crushable party wine.
