Story
Joao Barbosa Ninfa Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is full in body and textured on the palate showing stone fruits and swathes of mint tea that carry into a long mineral laced finish. Sauvignon Blanc contributes bright lemon-gooseberry aromas while Fernão Pires adds depth & complexity to the aromatics.
Joao Barbosa comes from generations of family deeply rooted in the wine industry. Bearing the same name as his grandfather and being the oldest of the grandsons Joao demonstrated from an early age a natural passion for wine and dedication to wine production. In 1997 Joao founded his eponymous winery and extended his dream of creating fine wines. Drawing on many years of personal experience; the aim is to produce wines that respect regionality and achieve the quality expected from discerning wine lovers and connoisseurs. Bringing unique experiences new grape varieties and blends to the region has provided surprising results. With 6.5 hectares of vineyards in Alto da Serra, Tejo, situated on 25kms from the Atlantic Coast, this cooler climate contributes to the elegance and finesse of these vines. As well as 10 hectares in Esperanca, Alentejo, their flagship wines Ninfa and Lapa dos Gaivões are made exclusively of estate grown fruit, expressing individual and authentic expressions of origin. since the first harvest their entire family and friends continue to collaborate and bring in each vintage, which they believe gives their wines their own unique genetic code.
