Story
Peter Franus Napa Valley Albariño 2016 comes from a single vineyard in the cool climate of Carneros, Napa Valley. Forward and aromatic, varietally correct, with zesty acidity. Flavors are bright, lively, and persistent. Always great acidity with Albariño, but what elevates the 2014 for me is how it seamlessly integrates with the structure of the wine. That translates to a bit more richness than previous vintages.
This Spanish grape makes a wonderful, food-friendly wine and the Stewart Vineyard in Carneros produces one with enticing aromatics, vivacious crispness and intriguing complexity, plus it’s one of the rare vineyards in America where Albariño is grown. A basket of aromas and flavors leap from the glass, including grapefruit, orange blossom, green apple and marzipan, and a racing acidity brightens the finish. If you’re looking for a distinctive and unique wine from Napa Valley, this is it.
Peter Franus Napa Valley Albariño 2016 is light straw in color with aromas consistent with previous vintages, honeysuckle, citrus blossom, toasted almond, ginger, and stone fruit.
