Story
Fürst Pinot Noir Tradition is very pale in colour – a pale greyish garnet. The nose however is one full of punchy aromas and comes with a spicy hit. The aromas are that of juicy, ripe red fruits. The palate is fruit heavy, with little earthy notes yet hold a great structure and the tannins are soft and rounded. There is a dry finish to this bottle, savoury – which pairs well with its fruit heavy notes.
In the far west edge of the Franken region, an area framed by the low mountain ranges of Spessart and Odenwald, a unique apelation has been carved out through thousands of years by both weather and agricultural effects. It is here that the Fürst Family have been making wine since 1638. In 1979 Paul and Monika Fürst built the new estate amidst the vineyards and in 2007 they were joined in its management by the next generation of the family business in the form of their son Sebastian.
The winery sits facing due south and overlooking the picturesque towns of Miltenberg and Bürgstadt and the slopes of the Centgrafenberg are home to most of the vines. The Pinot and Riesling grapes especially love the warm and iron rich soils formed by the weathering of red sandstone. The quality and structure of the wines is ensured by minimal intervention in the vineyards, reduced yields, gentle vinification and long barrel aging.
After fermentation on the skins in open vats, the red varieties are left in french oak barrels for 12 to 20 months to mature and settle. All red wines are bottled unfiltered. Lowtech vinification assures each wine gets the necessary time to develop
