Story
The Francois Cartier appellation is located in an area where the Loire and its tributaries meet, most of the vineyards are southeast of Tours, on the slopes of the Cher river and between the Cher and the Loire, 80% of production is Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are situated on alkaline perruche, silex soils and are cultivated in the traditional manner, whilst still keeping environmental sustainability top of mind. Still worked traditionally, the vineyards are situated on alkaline perruque, silex soils. Established 5 generations ago in some of the best soils to be found in the Cher Valley, Domaine Francois Cartier now grows almost 25 hectares of vines in the Pouillé municipality. The vineyards are situated on alkaline perruche, silex soils and are cultivated in the traditional manner, whilst still keeping environmental sustainability top of mind. Dry, crisp white wines from Sauvignon Blanc are the main focus, however, a small amount of Chardonnay, Pineau D’Aunis, Cabernet Franc and Côt is also produced. Vincent Cartier’s unrelenting focus in the vineyards, combined with modern winemaking equipment and monitoring techniques are allowing this Domaine to produce top quality Touraine Sauvignon. 2018 Francois Cartier Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is a juicy and fresh on the palate with sharp acidity and terroir-driven fruit. Delicious when served with fresh oysters, or seafood and is the perfect match with young goats’ cheese. An extremely classy wine at this price point.
