Story
Tamar Ridge Reserve Pinot Noir’s exceptional fruit grown at the Kayena Vineyard. Located on the western banks of the Tamar River, forty kilometres north of Launceston, the Kayena Vineyard is planted to a range of cool climate varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vision for Tamar Ridge is to produce premium quality wines highlighting the flavour, structure and elegance that are the hallmarks of true Tasmanian cool climate winemaking.
Grapes are crushed and placed into open top tanks, some parcels undergoing pre-ferment cold soak. A significant proportion was allowed to ferment on wild yeasts. Temperatures were allowed to rise to 30c., with four pigeages done daily. Following basket pressing, the wine was transferred to French oak barriques for the malolactic fermentation and maturation.
Tamar Ridge Reserve Pinot Noir is mid-deep ruby-garnet hue, with black cherry, raspberry and hints of white pepper fruits, and some slight savoury-gamey notes, all wrapped in a creamy-coconut casing. Smooth, mature tannins and fresh acidity deliver a refreshing, long finish. Grab a bottle of the 2016 vintage here.
Pairs well with roast pork, roast beef, roast lamb, roast chicken.
