Story
A few personal favourites of mine. Indeed it is AWIN -ing formula! I hold my hands up to a few things here as I present to you my 3 box selection! 1st I don’t do things by halves and 2 I have a very sweet tooth. My first 2 choices definitely reflect the first 2 bottles in my AWIN -ing formula. A bottle of champagne….. why not… It’s delicious, a drink associated with celebration, always consumed at happy occasions and therefore synonymous with you feeling good! Rene Jolly makes a perfect drink to suit that occasion…. aromatically bready, refreshingly zingy and mouth-wateringly moreish. A great glass of champagne that is smooth with its bubbles and makes for an easy-drinking glass of the best! Not all champagnes are created equal and this is one that’ll guarantee to please. 2nd is the Dr Loosen Kabinett Riesling – see. A sweet tooth! I don’t always want tannins and mushrooms and ‘soil’ too intense me into a bottle from a tasting note. Although I can appreciate it, sometimes there is nothing better than a perfectly made bottle of Kabinett from the maestro himself, Dr Loosen. The wine shows the typically juicy and exotic fruit of the “spice garden” vineyard, with a rich mouthfeel, a spicy acid tingle and lingering finish. Highly aromatic showing rich honey, lemon and apple. The palate is delicate and fragrant with a nice crispness. Complex, layered yet refreshing and PERFECT when the sun is shining. I can’t think of anything better. Lastly, Division Pinot Noir from Oregon. A DELICIOUS bottle of wine and hugely enjoyable from start to finish. It has a full-body, packs a punch, yet those notes are light, fruity and of strawberries and wild brambles! A bottle that is really interesting to drink, creates great conversation at the table and has such a great back story from the winemakers… their aim ‘to capture that year in a bottle’ is exactly how I feel and understand what it should be all about. When people ask me ‘whats your favourite wine’ which is a question I HATE and often refuse to answer, Division Pinot Noir is always lingering at the back of my mind.
