Story
A mixed case of; Maro Carinena tinto 2018, The Story Grampians Grenache 2017 and Mont Thabor Cotes du Rhone 2016. It’s not every day you get the chance to explore in detail how good Grenache or Garnacha can be. In the mixed case we travel from Victoria, Australia to Southern Rhone, France and then Carinena, Spain visiting three unique styles on the way. This is a fantastic chance to enjoy the versatility of Grenache in some of the most drinkable and flavoursome wines. Grenache also know as Garnacha in Spain is an internationally planted varietal in most wine regions in the world. It can be made into a White, Rose or Red wine. It can be used as a blend, like in this mixed case, or as a single varietal again, on show in this case. Stylistically it can fresh and quaffable, complex and elegant or big and bold. These three options showcase three distinct regions where Grenache is steeped in history. Maro Carinena Tinto 2018, from Carinena, Spain, is super smashable. Lots of soft tannins and juicy fruit, easy to drink and very fragrant. Its style is fresh and fruity with a lick of elegance. A mix of carbonic maceration and stainless with no oak. The Story Grampians Grenache from Victoria, Australia. Another fresh style but time more grip to the tannin and a little more floral. Well textured with a lick of oak. Destemmed and fermented naturally for three weeks. Then, matured in old oak vats and puncheons. Still relatively light in body with a fragrant length. Mont Thabor is hand-harvested and vinified in concrete vats over 2 weeks with regulated temperatures. 100% whole bunch fermented with pump-overs and load shredding. Aged in stainless steel tanks for 10 months before release.
