Did you try Raimes English sparkling wines?
Augusta and Robert are the fifth generation of the family to farm the fields now flourishing with vines and home to Raimes English Sparkling wines.
Together with land farmed on the historic Tichborne Estate, the farm stretches from the protected and ecologically diverse water meadows of the River Itchen to the grassy rolling hills of the South Downs near Winchester. The busy working farm grows wheat, barley, and oilseed rape. The grassland is home to a herd of traditionally horned Herefordshire cattle.
The aim is to grow the ripest grapes on this family farm; the Raimes vineyards are devoted exclusively to the three classic Champagne grapes of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir; producing elegant sparkling wines that reflect their locality.
“Growing good produce is in our soul”.
The Classic Brut 2014 is an elegant well balanced sparkling wine produced from grapes grown on perfectly situated chalk hills within the South Downs National Park in Hampshire.
“Opening a bottle is a special occasion”
“One of the top three Hampshire wine producers.”
“Elegant nose, lemon leaf perfume. Zesty, lemony, bright, bracing and tap dancing. This is delicious. Just a hint of honeyed richness under all that sharply pressed English acidity. White currants and mint and tarragon. Long and slender. Comes together beautifully.“ Tamlyn Currin
“Growing good grapes is in [their] soul”
I’d suggest that whilst the grapes might be good, the finished product is much more than that – it’s stunning in every way.
