Story
The Tuske Roze is a wonderfully pale in colour and is accompanied by an explosive scent of citrus fruit and fresh red berries. The citrus is noted in the form of blood orange and the fresh red berries shine through in the summer associated aroma of fresh crushed strawberries. This wine overall is well rounded. It is a light and elegant Provencal style rose with an engaging aroma and delicate flavour. It is incredibly moreish, delicious and very easy drinking. It has a great balance of quenching acidity to the flavour full fresh fruit flavours. It is rich in acids and light in body. Grown on the south and south-west facing aspects of the red clay and loess soil vineyard, which has the highest altitude os 141 metres, creates the perfect condition for the rose grapes and other lighter red varietals. The windy plateau and lower temperature is the perfect condition for the delicate grapes. The loess is also excellent to maintain an ambient warmth whilst the clay maintains the water at the top of the hill. The Juice for the Tuske rose was gained by the “saignee” method where the juice must is fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks. The term Saignée (“Sohn-yay”) means “to bleed” and describes the method of rosé winemaking that involves “bleeding” off a portion of red wine juice after it’s been in contact with the skins and seeds The winemaker believes that both he and the plants are both a part of nature. “Since we try to control our environment for thousands of years I believe we should do it the way that the plants can remain self-supporting in some way. We control how many kilos of grape can be on the vine so that it can absorb sufficient nutrition from the soil with as little intervention as possible.”
