The Unoaked Chardonnay and Prospector Syrah from the multi-award-winning Jordan Estates made under the watchful eye of Gary and Kathy Jordan and The Pepper Pot from Edgebasten – an hommage to the spicy Rhone varietals!  The Pepper Pot The Pepper Pot by Edgebaston in Stellenbosch, South Africa is a powerful wine! Exactly as it says on the label, it’s spicy, packs a punch and is a pleasure to drink. The wine was created to show off the spicy varietals of the Rhone whilst still remaining fresh and fruity when in perfect balance. The colour of the wine is youthful and gives off a purple/red hue on the edges. A glass of The Pepper Pot gives off an aroma of crushed black pepper (unsurprisingly) as well as a rich aroma of black fruits; dark Mulberry’s and a mixed berry coulis is dominant on the nose. The aroma carries through to the palate where the wine has an instant spice to it as well as a clean fresh red berry flavour which rounds off to a fabulously smooth finish to give the wine an excellent after taste and suitable for drinking with a meal and not be too dominating giving it a great structure. Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay The Unoaked Chardonnay from Jordan, is left unoaked having taken the inspiration from Chablis where the grape variety is allowed to express its inherent character. The wine gets its increased mouthfeel by its time left ‘sur lie’ (the time left of the yeast used in the fermentation) where it sits for 4 months. This gives the wine much more body, texture, flavours and an overall nuance to the wine. The aroma and palate of this wine is complex and interesting – on the nose, there is the smell of freshly grated lemon zest and a citrus orchard, but on the palate there are flavours of apricot puree and a very pleasant lime sorbet. Jordan Prospector Syrah The Prospector Syrah is named in a nod to the 1800’s Gold Rush when the discovery of Tin was found under the gravel of the Syrah Vines. The Prospector Syrah from Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch has an aroma and palate packed full of red fruit with hints of peppered charcuterie and chipotle coming through giving the whole wine a medium body and a delicious drink, both with and without food… This wine goes perfectly with a range of meat dishes and techniques; great with smoked and spiced charcuterie as well as grilled red meats, yet the bright red fruits and medium body lend itself well to duck and game dishes to
