Story
Schnaitmann Spätburgunder Junge Reben (Organic) is a light and smooth Pinot Noir, full of character and beautifully displaying tart red fruit such as cranberries and sour cherries on the nose with a slight hint of earthiness. On the palate, you’ll find floral notes such as pink rose petals and ripe red raspberries. There is also a hint of spice and some smoky oak on the finish, which comes from the large 300L old oak barrels used during ageing, also giving this wine soft and smooth tannins. In addition to the great attention to organic vineyard maintenance, the fruit for this wine is partially whole-bunch fermented to ensure a high concentration of flavour. This Spätburgunder Junge Reben (aka Pinot Noir) is an organic red wine, reminiscent of a classic German Pinot Noir with its light colour and body.
With centuries of family grape growers behind him, Rainer Schnaitmann began harvesting grapes under his own label in 1997. Less than 10 years after creating the winery, he was inducted into the VDP, at the time being the youngest estate to do so. Because of this, Schnaitmann wines proudly boast the eagle stamp of VDP Pradikatsweingut as a testament to the quality of his products. Focusing on small parcels of land to produce the best possible fruit, Schnaitmann sticks to utilizing organic practices. Each year, the winery also focuses on enlisting at least three young aspiring winemakers for training in order to support a new generation of winemakers.
