Story
The Steinwiege Riesling is bursting with aromas of orange peel, ripe pears, grapefruit and nectarines, with juicy fruity acidity and grippy structure, dry and well balanced. This wine has a lovely crunchy acidity, paired with mineral, slightly salty notes and the always present fruit challenge the taste buds and makes you want to take another sip. This is terrific paired with charcuterie, seafood or salads. Rainer Schnaitmann originally studied architecture, but in 1997 turned his back on his career and decided to follow his family’s 500-year-old vine-growing tradition and set up his eponymous estate. Within just 8 years he was invited to join the VDP and in his unceasing quest for quality, the winery was awarded full Organic certification in August 2016. They rely on ecological, long-term quality assurance when working in the vineyard. Due to the long tradition and experience in viticulture, the Schnaitmann winery knows how to make optimal use of the wide range of possibilities offered by the different soil conditions of the vineyards. The vines for this Riesling Steinwiege are rooted in calcareous gypsum Keuper soil, which gives the wine its characteristic minerality.
