Story
Cave St Verny’s Puy De Dôme Pinot Noir displays a nice light purple colour which is characteristic of the Pinot Noir grape. The aroma has a huge depth of complexity to it. A varying array of aromas and tastes fill the glass to make this an extremely exciting glass of wine to enjoy. Starting with the aroma, this glass displays an array of flowers, followed by the red fruits such as cherry. On the back notes you get the spicy, deeper aromas of vanilla, pepper and mace and last but not least a bit of dark chocolate on the nose. The mouth is ample, medium bodied and is pleasant to drink, punching a flavour and feeling that is just perfectly balanced. The aroma gives not very subtle hints as to what is to come on the palate. It is very elegant with the same fresh red berries, spicy notes of pepper, spice and dark chocolate. Delicious. The Puy De Dôme Pinot Noir is well matched with food. For example charcuterie, tapas and barbecue will go perfectly with this elegant and ample wine. As is referenced in the name with Puy De Dôme being one of the youngest lava domes ( a mere 10 700 years old) in the mountain range of the Chaîne des Puys region of Massif Central in central France. Located in the loire valley, the volcanic terroir gives a great ground for the vines to thrive and make excellent fruit. Full of minerals and known for great viticulture in all farming, here they feel right at home and ready to produce excellent fruit as the base of our final product. The grapes are all hand picked, before being put through a traditional vinification and a short maceration. Just enough to flavour the fruit, but keep the tannins balanced.
