Story
Gut Oggau Weinland Maskerade White 2019 flow elegantly over the palate – juicy, crisp, cool and fresh with airy-light transparency. The wine has moderate alcohol values of 11.5% for white wine, and is simply delicious! Depending on your taste, drink a bit cooler and also some air (in the glass) will do you good.
The Maskerade white is produced at the Gut Oggau estate in Burgenland by Lake Neusiedlersee. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie Eselböck-Tscheppe. All their wines are vineyard-specific and express both the vine age and the character of these indigenous Austrian varieties. When they began to work with the wines in the cellar, they noticed that each wine seemed so alive with its own personality, that they decided to craft labels centred around the personality inside each bottle and for the first time, three new personalities will be bottled in an elegant litre bottle and re-introduced to the family as white, rosé and red wines (Masquerade).
“Behind this new member of the family is not a lapidary second bottling of the youth series of Gut Oggau, but a very individual substance. Steffi and Eduard have acquired some wonderful vineyards with different grape varieties in the past, they are managed in the spirit of the special philosophy of the winegrower couple.”
New personalities at Gut Oggau account for new vineyards and since the true character, the recently acquired vineyards, have yet to be revealed, they are initially expanded as a mixed sentence and hide behind a mask. Until the day of its revelation, but that will take some time. Most of the vineyards are field blended, and therefore there is little mention of grape varieties here, but they do work with 6 main grape varieties– Blaufrankish, Zweigelt Grüner Veltliner, Welchriesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), and Gewurztraminer.
