Story
Azul Y Garanza Naturaleza Salvaje Tinto 2019 is a fantastic Grenache from an old single-vineyard located in the Bardenas Reales desert.
Azul y Garanza makes wine from a total of 40 hectares of vineyards scattered on various parcels located next to the desert area and the nature reserve Bardenas Reales in Navarra, in northern Spain. With the extreme natural conditions that this desert area has, unique to Navarra, Dani Sanches Nogue, Maria Barrena and Fernando Barrena make certified organic wine of high class – without the use of chemical agents either in vineyards or basements. Maria and Dani in particular, with their great experiences from both Spain, France, Australia, Argentina and South Africa, have finally found their course and philosophy of how they want their wines to be; True to its origin. It should also be mentioned that Dani makes wine in Montsant and Maria in Catalonia too. The Navarra district stretches across the southern half of the Navarre region. The vineyards are located at the foot of the Pyrenees, down towards the Eros valley. Navarra was previously best known for its rosé wines, but in recent years it has also produced red and white quality wines. The climate is continental with hot, dry summers and cold winters.
Made by Maria, Dani, and Fernando, a dynamic trio who slowly converted an abandoned cooperative building in their village of Carcastillo to a fully operational winery. A huge commitment to biodiversity in the vines leads to wines of pronounced purity. The very poor and arid clay-calcareous soil, the dry weather and the big contrast of temperature between the day and the night provide the grapes with high concentration and a perfect balance
The wine was made and aged in clay amphoras, and is lean but complex, pristine, pure, with gorgeous red and black fruits and a velvety texture. Stunner
