Story
Allram Grüner Veltliner Hasel is an unbelievable drinking pleasure, fresh and subtle. On the nose, you can expect beautiful white peaches, green apple, and citrus fruits. Following on the palate, you’ll find hints of white pepper and a steely minerality. Allram Grüner Veltliner Hasel pairs perfectly with roast beef, grilled chicken, salads with a herbal touch, mushrooms.
Handpicked, temperature controlled fermentation at 19° C with natural yeast, extended lees contact The soil is a result of the dry and cold climate of the Ice Age. Due to the effect of glaciers producing a high pressure on the land, quartz, limestone, mica and clay particles were pulverised. These loess soils retain deep reservoirs of moisture and rarely suffer from dehydration. The heart of this vineyard is the Mittelhasel, with a gentle incline towards the south; its where our vineyards are located. As this location has always produced above average quality, the wine growers of the past were known to say: “A vintner without any Hasel won’t get a wife”.
The Allram (Allram Riesling Gaisberg Erste Lage 2019) estate is in the heart of the Kamptal, in the picturesque Strass im Strassertale. Michaela Haas-Allram took over her parent’s business in 1992 and has since operated the winery with her husband Erich. Allram has been one of the leading wineries of the Kamptal for decades, with holdings in the famous vineyards of Heiligenstein, Gaisberg, and Renner. For the owners, the main factor of producing exceptional wines is to be found already in the vineyards. Their strong family ethos extends to all areas of the winery – with Erich and son Lorenz sharing responsibilities in the vineyards and cellar whilst Michaela and daughter Magdalena are responsible for the commercial side. Michaela´s father Walter is still a regular visitor out in the vineyard. The harmony of the generations is at the root of the positive philosophy. Lorenz values family traditions whilst seeking to strive for tomorrow – creating marvellous wines with distinctive varietal character.
The Allram team consistently creates organic, high-quality wines by combining the knowledge of generations with state-of-the-art technology. Both, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling thrives in Lorenz’s hands, with the 2016 Gaisberg winning 97 pts at the International Wine Challenge in London receiving the white wine trophy.
